This application is not built to handle UTF-8 characters outside of the Unicde 0-128 range. Your Russian characters are not supported by sphider
To fix your problem is not a simple task, as you will need to hack the core considerably. This can be done, but without providing completely fresh code, would not be a simple task to post on this forum.
Check out iconv() and mutilbyte() functions though, as these are your first port of call., See the PHP manual for more information.
